To begin with, Wild Horse Island on Flathead Lake is about 2160 acres. The Island is the largest on Flathead Lake. Wild Horse Island hosts abundant wildlife. Wildlife on the island includes bighorn sheep, mule deer, songbirds, waterfowl, bald eagles, and falcons, as well as a few wild horses.

The Island is a day-use only park. There is no camping.

When visiting Wild Horse Island please be aware it includes private properties along parts of the perimeter of the island.  There is no public dock on the Island. Visitors are encouraged to use Skeeko Bay on the northwest side of the island. There are ample trails and rest room available at Skeeko Bay. A typical daytrip can take an hour for the short loop and as long as you want to adventure on the long loop.
